Vigil services will be tonight in Horton for a native Topekan, Jeffrey Wayne Berger, son of Richard J. and Carol Berger, who, with his 14 year old babysitter, were found slain New Years Eve in the kitchen of his parent's apartment in Lee's Summit, Mo.
Jeffrey was born July 27, 1972 in Topeka. His father was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base. He was transferred to Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, Mo.
Besides his parents, survivors include his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Earp, Hiawatha, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Berger, Centralia, Ill., and great-grandparents, Mrs. Herman Bunck, Everest, W.J. Earp, Horton, and Mrs. Sally Lambert and Mrs. Edna Berger, both of Centralia, Ill.
Services will be Saturday in the St. Leo's Catholic Church, Horton, with burial in All Saints Cemetery, Everest. Chaney Mortuary, Horton, is in charge of arrangements.
