Leo McIntyre was a native of Coffeeville, Al. He served in the Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. While in the Coast Guard his unit was sent to Baton Rouge during the flood of 1927. There he met Ella Hopkins. They were married in 1928 and were the parents of 2 daughters, Jean and Lois. They lived in Alabama for a number of years where Leo farmed and ran a small country store. They returned to Baton Rouge when he was hired by Standard Oil to work in their plant there. Leo retired from the plant in 1967.
