Mo-Mo and Paw-Paw met during the Baton Rouge flood of 1927 when his Coast Guard unit was sent there to build the levee. They married in 1928. Mo-Mo had always loved to dance but Paw-Paw didn't. Sooo, no more dancing for Ella! Her favorite song was "Pretty Little Red Bird". She also loved really sad old gospel songs. She had no musical training but she could play a few tunes on the harmonica. One year I bought her a new harmonica for her birthday and I think she liked that better than any other present I ever gave her! I now have it and treasure it because of the memories I have of her playing it with a big smile on her face.
She and Paw-Paw had two daughters, Jean and Lois, and 8 grandchildren. She also had 7 brothers and sisters.
