John Charles Fitzgerald, 66 of Leonardtown, MD died June 22, 2011. Born January 23, 1945 in Owosso, MI he was the son of the late John Charles Fitzgerald and Lillian Jean (Gendreau) Fitzgerald.

John grew up in Lowell, MA. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp after completing basic training in Paris Island, SC. He served in the Vietnam War and in many locations until finally retiring in 1984. He continued employment through Tracor and BAE Systems as a quality control supervisor for sixteen years. After two retirements, he spent six years assisting customers within the electrical department at Lowes. With his third and final retirement in 2007, he decided to finally relax at home and travel more. John enjoyed woodworking and created timeless treasures for his family. He also continued his passion for reading.

John is survived by his wife, Sarah Fitzgerald, step daughters; Ann Laigle (Michael) of St. Mary's City, MD, Jil Howard (fiancé Jim Brincefield) of Camden, NC and Joy Bowes (Tommy) of Valley Lee, MD, grandchildren; Michael Laigle (Jaclyn), Brandon Laigle, Jimmy Brincefield and Sarah Brincefield, brothers; Tom Fitzgerald (Colette) and Mike Fitzgerald (Marcia) and nephews; Tim Fitzgerald (Karen) and Dan Fitzgerald (Lisa).
