SPRINGFIELD — A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Northwood Christian Church in Springfield for Joyce Elizabeth Bates of Springfield, who died Dec. 8 of age-related causes. She was 89.
She was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Drain to Stacey and Barney Walker. She married Raymond "Woody" Bates on June 24, 1939, in Springfield. He died in 1992.
She worked for the Springfield School District.
Survivors include two sons, Tom and Rick, both of Springfield; two daughters, Kathy Montgomery of Springfield and Maureen Mannila of Marcola; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements by Alpha Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene. Remembrances to Eugene Mission or Northwood Christian Church.
