Rebecca Ann Frogge, only daughter of Thomas E. and Mary P. Montgomery McKnight, was born near Memphis, Missouri, March 29, 1886, and passed away February 8, 1975, at the Masonic Home in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 9 days.
Mrs. Frogge was reared in the Concord neighborhood and united with the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church at an early age. She taught primary Sunday School and was organist for the church for several years.
Rebecca was married to Aura Allen Frogge November 3, 1909. To this union was born one son, Orville Lynn Frogge. She and her family lived on a farm near Greensburg, Missouri, until August 1925 when they moved to Memphis, Missouri. Her husband passed away May 28, 1927.
She was a member of the Memphis Christian Church as long as her health permitted. Rebecca was past Matron of the Greensburg Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 258 and a member of Carter Chapter No. 107, O.E.S. of Memphis, Missouri. On March 9, 1968 she became a resident of the Masonic Home at St. Louis, Missouri.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-mother, and her brothers, James H. McKnight and Samuel P. McKnight.
Mrs. Frogge is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Orville L. and Viva Frogge of Merrillville, Indiana; one granddaughter, Wanda Treece and husband, Phillip; one grandson, Michael Frogge and wife, Carole; six great-grandchildren, Jo Ann Rebecca, Jayne Marie, Jacqualine Ann and Jason Treece, Michael Heath and Melissa Lynn Frogge, all of Valparaiso, Indiana; one step-great-granddaughter, Terri Lynn Brady; two step-great-great-granddaughters, Sherri and Lisa Bridegroom of Germany; three nephews, James Arthur McKnight, Memphis, Missouri, Dr. Laurence Steffen, Overland Park, Kansas, and Bernard Steffen, New York; one niece, Juanita McKnight of Memphis, Missouri; one great-niece, Helen Jean Prince, Mendon, Illinois, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by D. W. Payne & Sons Tuesday, February 11, 1975, 1:30 p.m. from their Memphis Chapel with Len Camp officiating. Eastern Star services were held Monday February 10, 1975, 7:30 p.m. by Carter Chapter No. 107, O.E.S., Memphis, Missouri at the Payne Chapel. Eunice Pearce was Worthy Pro Tem and George Davidson was Worthy Patron Pro Tem. Pallbearers were members of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge, were Bill Grabowski, J. J. Pearce, Bill Mallett, Gale Barker, William P. McRobert, and Richard Burrus.
