Steven Paul Billingsley, 55, formerly of New Castle and residing in Los Angeles, died January 17 after an extended illness.
He was born July 3, 1951 in Alton, Illinois, a son of Charles O. and Helen Billingsley.
He grew up in New Castle and was a 1969 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He attended Ball State University and Los Angeles Community College. He was a resident of the Los Angeles area for the past 25 years. He was vice president of V.I.P. Appraisals and Home Inspections in Pasadena, California.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother of New Castle; a brother, Dave Billingsley of McMinnille, Oregon; two sisters, Marsha (husband: John) Anderson and Susan (husband: Jeff) Rucker, both of Indianapolis; nephews, Ben Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brock Anderson of Los Angeles, California, and Andy Rucker of Indianapolis; a half brother, Charles R. Billingsley of Peoria, Illinois; a half sister, Marilyn Dawkins of Carbondale, Illinois; aunts, Doris Booten of Los Angeles, California, and Hazel Vinson of Carbondale, Illinois; and also several uncles and cousins in the Alton, Illinois, area.
Graveside services were held at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, California, for family and friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund or the First United Methodist Church of New Caster. Mercer-Hall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
