Solomon McCargar
A familiar figure has passed away from our midst in the death of Mr. Solomon McCargar who died on Tuesday April 16 after an illness of scarcely 36 hours. The cause of death was a paralytic stroke. Mr. McCargar came to the township from Winchester several years ago. For a few years, he kept a flour and feed store, but of late years has only kept a shoe repairing shop. Besides the widow, he leaves four daughters, Mrs. R. Scott, Mrs. F. McPherson of Moose Jaw, Mrs. Hill of Sault St. Marie, and Mrs. Patterson of Stephenson and their sons Joseph, Walter, and Philander all in the west. Mrs. Scott and Donald Scott, a great grandson, Mrs. Hill and Mr. P. McCargar were present at the funeral on Sunday, which was largely attended as the deceased was very highly respected in this neighbourhood.
