Theda A. Crotts, 92, of Boise, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011 at a local care center.

She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on April 9, 1919, to Charles and Erma McCurdy. She married George R. Crotts and they lived in Pocatello, Idaho until 1955 when they moved to Boise where she spent the remainder of her life.

Theda had a great sense of humor and loved her family and friends. She was always ready to take the grandchildren to feed the ducks at Ann Morrison Park, ride the paddle boats and visit the Fun Spot at Julia Davis Park. She liked to knit, crochet, garden, and read. She was a great cook and homemaker. Family and friends were always invited to watch the Balloon Festival from the front lawn of their home on Crescent Rim and stay at the Terrace Lakes cabin.

It was very difficult for Theda and George to lose their son, George Jr., at the young age of 27, but his wife, Dona Stoll, who was like a daughter to them, remained close and made certain their four grandchildren learned to know and love them.

In 2000 Theda suffered a debilitating stroke which left her partially paralyzed. She never gave up, always worked hard with her physical therapists.

Whenever family members were in town they all wanted to visit with "Grandma Theda". She was especially pleased when the grandchildren brought their new babies to meet her. She is very proud of her great-grandson, Brandon, a Marine, who is presently serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Her faithful and loving husband, George, took excellent care of her for the six years following her stroke until he passed away in 2006.

She moved to Willow Park Assisted Living for the remaining five and a half years of her life. Willow Park became "home" and the staff and residence part of her extended family. We would like to thank everyone at Willow Park for the loving care and kindness given to our Mother over the past years and extend a special thank you from her daughters for the patience and understanding they were given during difficult times.

Theda is survived by her daughters, Renae (Dick) Mortensen, of Walnut Creek, California, Carol (Ed) Peterson, of Boise, and Dona (Fred) Stoll, of Pocatello, Idaho; her brother, Dean (Melba) McCurdy, of Pocatello, Idaho; her sister-in-law, Lila McCurdy, of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Theda was preceded in death by her husband, George, her son, George Crotts, Jr., and a grandson, Robert Mortensen, her parents, and brothers, William and Charles McCurdy.

A viewing and visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road in Boise. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 also at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Cloverdale Memorial Park.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 6485 W. Interchange, Suite #101, Boise, ID 83701, or the American Heart and Stroke Association at 270 S. Orchard, Boise, ID 83705.
