Another of Enid's outstanding and widely known residents passed on Saturday morning. George D. Wilson, 74, Enid attorney since 1910 and father of Rep. George Howard Wilson, eighth district congressman, died at an Enid hospital, following a three months' illness.

Word of Mr Wilson's death, while expected in many circles since he suffered three heart attacks, brought countless expressions of sorrow from residents in all walks of life in Enid and surrounding areas.

Mr. Wilson had been active in legal and business life, in church circles since he came to Enid from his birthplace in Mattoon, Ill., in 1910. He served for 10 years on the Enid school board and was president of the board virtually all that time.

Elected to the board of education in 1922, he served through 1932, and it was during that period that a majority of the grade schools and Education building were erected.

Battled for Clients

A quiet, unassuming man, Mr. Wilson was a battler for any client he represented in court as all lawyers who were on the other side of the case will testify.

He was proud of the fact that his parents were Irish immigrants, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Wilson. Mr. Wilson was reared on a farm near Mattoon and attended school there. He received his A.B. Degree at Blackburn University at Carlinville, Ill., and was admitted to the bar in Illinois in 1898.

Two years later he married Miss Helen M. Bresee, who along with three sons, all lawyers, survive him. The Wilson home is at 601 East Broadway.

Served as Judge

Mr. Wilson was judge of the Mattoon city court from 1908 to 1910, the year he came to Enid. He was immediately admitted to practice law in Oklahoma by the state supreme court.
