Letter from Laura Mae to her older brother, Leonard and his wife, Ida (He died February 22, 1933 in Dover, Oklahoma):
Eagle Butte, S.D.
June 29th, 1932
Dear Len and Ida:
It has been such a long time since I have heard from you. I wonder how you are getting along. I suppose the same as ever like we are. Everything looks fine here now, there has been lots of rain. It rained real hard last night. It seems like every time a cloud comes up it rains and last year we had no rain at all. There are some grasshoppers don't know whether they will do much damage or not. And so you are having a 50th wedding anniversary, well that's fine. I hope you will live to celebrate your 75th one.
How is Bessie and her family. I often think of all of you and is she still in Texas and Harry. Our Harry and family live in Prine. Ava is here and has a big family, eight boys and two girls. But she looks fine. George has five boys and one girl. Uella and I live by ourselves in town.
Harry has three boys and two girls, his youngest is 12 years old. You see I have lots of grandchildren. We expect to go to Ava's today they are coming often ___. I would have liked to have gone down to Vermillion for brothers birthday but I just can't not this year. Perhaps I can next year.
Well, I have written quite a letter. Hope you will find some time to answer it.
