She was born on Aug. 7, 1935, in the Sandy Bottom area of Rockingham County and was a daughter of Hattie Collier Dean of Charlottesville and the late John Gilbert Dean.
On Dec. 31, 1967, she married Curtis Brown Dean, who survives.
Surviving in addition to her mother and her husband are two daughters, Lois Dean of Grottoes and Sheila Lam of McGaheysville; a stepdaughter, Jeanette Blose of Fulks Run; four stepsons, Curtis N. and James R. Dean, both of Shenandoah, Randy L. Dean of Grottoes and Jerry P. Dean of McGaheysville; two brothers, Cohill and Clifton Dean, both of Charlottesville; four grandchildren and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
