Retired Rail Engineer Met Natural Death
Robert Snowden, about 66, 951 West Lexington Avenue, was found dead in his bathroom shortly before noon today.
The Southern Southern Railroad Engineer retired about, a year ago and had been seen Wednesday by his physician. However his death was unexpected and is believed to have been caused by a heart attack.
The body was found by Dick Shewmaker, a neighbor from across the street. It was reported that Mr. Snowden had been shaving when strickened by his final illness and slumped over backwards into the bathtub.
Widely known after his long service on the railroad out of Danville, Mr. Snowden was a widower whose wife, Mrs. Lillian Snowden operated a small new and used furniture shop on Stanford avenue until her death a few years ago. A brother, John Snowden, Louisville, is a former manager of the Louisville Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and was also in the advertising department of the Courier-Journal at a previous time. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Herbert Hitt, Vincentnes, Ind.
The body was removed to Stith funeral home to await the arrival of relatives to complete funeral and burial arrangements.
