Raymond R. Saunders, age 86, of North Ridge Care Center, formerly of Golden Valley, passed away peacefully on 2/2/04. Preceded in death by wife of 60 years, Margaret; grandson, Brian Schroeder and sister, Dorothy. Survived by children, Alban F. (Sara), Jon D. (Marilyn), Elizabeth (Tom) Ohman, Joanne (Doug) Schroeder; 10 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren; sisters, Mary Louise and Jeannine; brother, Donald and special friend, Eileene Goike. Ray was a graduate of North High. Member of the U of M Marching & Alumni Bands. As a lifelong educator, Ray held positions as a teacher and band director at Mankato High School, and completed his career as principal at Golden Valley High School. Ray also was active in various religious and civic organizations. He will fondly be remembered for his engaging personality, love of people, and passion for music. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Service Saturday, 1 PM at Edinbrook Baptist Church, 4300 Edinbrook Pkwy, Brooklyn Park. Visitation one hour prior to service, and Friday, 5-8 PM at: Washburn-McReavy Swanson Chapel 1600 Lowry Avenue N.
