Rose Ratliff was a gentle good natured person. She was wonderful with children and a great stand-in mom.

She was a person who was actually famous for her apple pie. When the Ratliff family owned Home Creek Resort at Huntington Lake, it was what made people come back to the restaurant again and again. Rose was a person people came to when when life wasn't going well, and she always offered sympathy and advise, but she knew that a glass of milk and a piece of pie always made things a little better. She may have invented apple pie therapy.

She would rather play card games with kids than play poker with the adults. She would spend hours playing games like "Fish" or "Old Maid" with her grandchildren or nieces and nephews. Some of the summer employees at the resort were still in school and Rose was their mom away from home for the summer.

She loved to go fishing with her sister-in-law, Mardel and other friends but didn't seem to mind if she didn't catch any fish. She understood the social aspects of goin' fishin'. Sometimes those pesky fish would actually bite and interrupt the conversation.

She was one of those people who went through life mostly un-noticed and always under appreciated but when she finally passed on in 1980 she was universally missed.
