Mrs. Slatery was born in Findley, Ohio, came to Muncie as a child with her parents, Fred and Henrietta Henmore Baker, and attended Muncie Schools. Most of her married years were spent in Indianapolis and Chicago and following the death of her husband in Chicago in 1955, she moved to Indianapolis and was employed by J.C. Penney Company. She later returned to Chicago where she was cafeteria hostess for the Allerton Hotel. Muncie has been her home since she retired 10 years ago. Mrs. Slatery attended First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Willard Baker, with whom she made her home; and two nephews, Robert Ford, Eaton, and Kenneth Ford, Muncie;
Services will be held at Meeks Mortuary at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Daniel Mattox, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, or prior to services on Tuesday.
