WAR OF 1812 VETERAN

His parents were John Tobias and Polly Gaffin who both died in 1830 in New York.

After Henrietta's death, Henry married Elizabeth Plum on February 16, 1866 in Wheatfield Township, Ingham, Michigan. The marriage record list Elizabeth's name as Elizabeth Whitman. Henry is listed as being 65 years old and Elizabeth as 64 years old.

Henry died in Wheatfield Twp.

What's confusing here is that this individual is referred to in official records as Daniel, but in published histories and tombstones as Henry. Served as soldier in War of 1812. Lived in Pennsylvannia for ten years before moving to Livingston County, Michigan. After five years moved to Ingham County, Michigan. (This is from the Portrait and Biographical History of Ingham and Livingston Counties, Michigan (Chapman Bros., 1891), p. 242.)

Ingham County Vital Records, by the Lansing Chapter of the DAR, record his age at death as 83yrs, 8 mo., and 21 days. Which indicates there was a marker in the 1930's when the DAR did the cemetery reading.

Daughter Calisten married William Sly and died April 22, 1900 in Grand Traverse, Traverse City, Michigan.

Another daughter Harriet married a Brazel and died a widow on November 22, 1896 in Lansing, Ingham, Michigan.

Henrietta Lake is the mother of both girls.
Unable to locate either burial location.

1850 Census: Wheatfied Twp,Ingham, Michigan. Daniel, Henrietta and 5 children.

1860 Census: Home Wheatfield Twp, Ingham,Michigan. Daniel, Henrietta and 5 children.
