Archer, Cleta Joy Carlson - Cleta Joy Archer 73, of Clarinda, Iowa formerly of Villisca, Iowa, died Thursday, July 1, 2004 in rural Clarinda, IA. She was born December 31, 1930, in Cass County, Iowa the daughter of Evert Herman Carlson and Vivian Ermal (White) Carlson.
Cleta was a 1948 graduate of the Villisca Community School. She married Robert (Dean) Archer June 25, 1958, in Phoenix, AZ.
Cleta had worked at the Villisca Locker, Berry Seed Company, Nodaway Valley National Bank and the Clarinda Company. She worked for the Clarinda Company as an Estimator and Secretary for seventeen years and retired in 1989. Cleta had also worked part time for the Wolfe Funeral Home, in Villisca for several years. Cleta moved to Clarinda October 28, 2003.
She was a member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Villisca. Her hobbies were quilting, handwork, gardening, reading and had a special interest in genealogy.
Cleta is survived by her daughters; Carol Balgemann and husband Richard of Clarinda, IA and Vicki Wagoner and husband Kenneth of Clarinda, IA. One son David Archer of Clarinda, IA. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One brother Kevin Carlson of Hillsboro, Oregon and one sister JoAnn Hess and husband Carroll of Centralia, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son Jerry.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Villisca, Iowa with Pastor Jerome Wagoner officiating. Visitation with the family was held 7-8 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at Wolfe Funeral Home, Villisca, Iowa. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. A memorial will be established. Wolfe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
