Martha Lester Coppock was the daughter of Peter Lester, Jr. and unknown mother and the wife of Moses Wiliam Coppock. Her husband died Dec. 1767 in Newberry County, South Carolina. Excerpts from her will, written in Newberry County, SC, in 1794, estate record book B., p. 82 (will proved 28 Feb, 1797):
"I Martha Coppock of Newberry County and State of South Carolina being at this time in my Common State of health proper sense and Sound reason have thought fit to make Ordain and Constitute and do hereby make and constitute this my Last Will and Testament...I give and bequeath until my beloved Daughter Rebekah Evans, the Sum of Two pounds Sterling...I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Mary Coats the Sum of two pounds Sterling...I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Phebe Pugh the sum of two pounds Sterling..I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Martha Tomlingson the Sum of Two pounds sterling...I give and bequeath unto my beloved son James Coppock all that Plantation or tract of land whereon I now live Containing three hundred acres more or less and the remainder part of my personal Estate if any remaith (sic) to him and his heirs...I nominate and appoint my Trusty and well beloved son James Coppock and my well beloved son in law Marmiduke Coats (sic) Executors of this my Last will and testament...I have herunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninty (sic) four..."
