UVALDE, Texas -
The Uvalde County medical examiner confirmed on Wednesday that 4-year-old Davaughn Rodriguez died of blunt-force trauma to the head. Rodriguez was found on the kitchen floor by his mother, Sabrina Vielma, on Sunday.
Uvalde police Chief Robert MacDonald said Vielma brought the boy to an emergency room wrapped in a blanket. He said when she brought him in, he "seemed to have been deceased for some time."
MacDonald called the circumstances surrounding Rodriguez's death "suspicious."
Rodriguez's maternal grandparents, Juan and Frances Garcia, said their daughter had been living nearby with her boyfriend at home in Uvalde.
