GALESBURG - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Harriman, 99, 1448 E. Main St. died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Born April 23, 1904, in Mendota to Laken Carl and Nancy Irene Finley Lowther, she married Ernest R. Harriman on Oct. 7, 1935, in Pekin. He died Nov. 24, 1959.

She also was preceded in death by her niece Margaret Mahle, on July 18, 2000, whom she raised as her daughter.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Margo (and Calvin) Sholl of Galesburg; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She worked at Ellis Jewelers, Ida Inn Shop and the Galesburg Club.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Galesburg.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at East Linwood Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Patterson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.

Memorials may be made to her church or the Children's Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
