Clarence was born to Minnie Isabel (Carson) Bryson and John Bates (JB) Bryson on the family ranch at Mile 25 on the Cariboo Highway. He was their third son. His siblings called him Dunc or Dunk when he was growing up. He was schooled on the ranch by a teacher hired by his parents, and then went to Magee Highschool in Vancouver in Grade 8 and lived with his maternal Magee relatives. He could not attend highschool in consecutive years because he and his brothers were needed to help run the cattle ranch, so they took turns. During WWII, Clarence was married and a father and he stayed at the ranch to produce food which was considered an essential service. After the family ranch was sold, he managed other ranches in the Interior of BC., and owned a ranch in Merritt. Later, he and his family purchased the Empire Valley Cattle company. After that ranch was sold, he did the haying and assisted the Kerr family of Harper Ranch, while living with his wife Eleanore at Hilltop Ranch in Monte Creek. Clarence was a rodeo announcer and a supporter of 4H and high school rodeo. He also ran a business barbecuing beef roasts for gatherings and conferences. In 2014, Clarence was posthumously honoured with induction into the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame in the category of Ranching Pioneer. https://www.bcchs.com/archives.html#bryson
