Edwin H. Kunze, the son of H. D. Kunze and his wife, Louise, nee Rethorst, was born March 31, 1866, and died Wednesday morning, July 12, 1933, having reached the age of 67 years, 3 months and 11 days. Mrs Kunze spent his entire life in the Hopewell vicinity wherein he was highly respected by his fellow citizens. He was acclaimed by his citizens as a good neighbor and very industrious. On March 19, 1891, he was united in marriage with Louis Oberlag. They made their home on the farm which has been the home of the deceased. To this union ten children were born. One, Emma, preceded her parents in death. A number of years ago Mrs. Kunze through death was taken from the home. Mr. Kunze kept the home together for his children, encouraging them to attend the local Sunday School of which they are active participants. some two years ago Mr. Kunze suffered a paralytic stroke and since then has been in failing condition, growing weaker and weaker until last Wednesday his soul too departed to go to the heavenly home. He leaves to mourn his death nine children: Edwin of Franklin; Theodore, of Wentzville, Helen, Mrs. F. Kersten, of Holstein; Lawrence of Hopewell; Olga, Mrs. F. Koelling, of Wright City; Albert, Robert, Elmer and Lillian at home; Two brother, Herman Kunze of Louis, Iowa; and Robert Kunze of Hopewell vicinity; and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral services were held Friday July 14, 1933 in the Hopewell Church. Interment was made at the Strack's Church Cemetery. -- F. J. Nold
