Rufus Boyle was the son of Alexander Boyle who was the oldest son of Major John Boyle. Alexander was the older brother of Chief Justice John Boyle, whom Boyle County Kentucky was named after. Rufus married Jane Johnson in 1834 and had two children, William and Mary Ellen. Rufus married 2nd Theresa Barker (Theresa was related to Davy Crockett). They had 7 children together. Wallace, Nancy Jane, Minerva, Edna, Margaret, John Tilford, and Annie. They lived in Garrard Cty Kentucky on the Old Crockett Farm near Lancaster until 1869, then moved to Lincoln County.
