By 1872, the family had moved to a homestead claim in Lake County, Dakota Territory. By 1884, the family had moved to a new homestead claim in LaRoche Township, Charles Mix County, South Dakota. In 1905, Ephraim and family left South Dakota and moved to Bartow, Florida.
