Betty was born July 7, 1925, in Indianola, to William Franklin and Minnie Arizona (Harshaw) Edwards. She attended Indianola schools and lived in the Muskogee area her entire adult life. She retired from Muskogee Regional Hospital, where she worked as a cook. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a resident of Muskogee and passed away in McAlester at the age of 86. Survivors include a brother, Billie Earl Edwards, of McAlester; sister, Zona Mae Prey, of Enid; nieces and nephews, Judy Petty, Sandy McMurtry, Kay Hamlin, Betty Bailey, Jackie Edwards, David Edwards, Jon Kirk Edwards, Steve Edwards, Lynn Edwards, Dub Edwards, and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Franklin and Minnie Arizona Edwards; brothers, Damon Edwards, Howard Edwards, and sister, Katherine Harrelson. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Choate Prairie Cemetery, Indianola, with Lynn Edwards officiating. Burial was at Choate Prairie Cemetery, Indianola, under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Honorary pallbearers were Judy Petty, Sandy McMurtry, Kay Hamlin, Betty Bailey, Jackie Edwards, David Edwards, Jon Kirk Edwards, Steve Edwards, Lynn Edwards and Dub Edwards.
