Quantrell was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on Wednesday, July 1st, 1914, son of Frank Pierce Stringer and the late Lilly Lay Stringer. He moved to Lincoln County, Kentucky from Pulaski County, Kentucky and was a machinist and a member of Pond Baptist Church.
Quantrell was survived by his father, Frank Pierce Stringer; his loving wife, Esther Sims Stringer, whom he married in 1935 in Stanford, Kentucky; four children, Elvin Stringer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Margaret Floyd of Somerset, Kentucky, and Helen Black and Elsie Aline Ryan, both of Grand Rapids, Michigan; nine brothers, Zearn Stringer, Vern Bryce Stringer, Frank Howard Stringer, Virl D. Stringer, Jimmy Bruce Stringer, and Gerald Stringer, all of Somerset, Kentucky, Cecil Stringer of Goshen, Ohio, Thomas Heart of Corbin, Kentucky, and Hawk Lewis Stringer of West Carrollton, Ohio; three sisters, Nola Rogers of Corbin, Kentucky, Darlene Bradley of Westchester, Ohio, and Patsy Fagle of Troy, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Lay Stringer; his step-mother, Edrie Butler Stringer, who departed this life on March 24th, 1966; and one brother, Roy Lee Stringer, who departed this life on January 29th, 1970.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 17th, 1976 at the Barnett Funeral Home in Waynesburg, Kentucky, and again at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th at the Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Jackson officiating.
Burial followed in the Pond Cemetery.
