TRINITY -- Services for William David Basinger, 84, of Trinity were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at the Waller-Thornton Chapel with Pastor Gerald Reeves officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Pioneer Cemetery in Riverside.
Mr. Basinger died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 in Trinity. He was born at home on Sept. 6, 1927 in Sarepta, La., one of 15 children born to James Frank and Maggie (Bullock) Basinger. Mr. Basinger served in the U.S, Army and received his honorable discharge as Private First Class in 1952. In 1954, he married his best friend, Clara Louise. He was employed as an electrician in Pasadena and later served as a security guard at the Westwood Shores subdivision, retiring in 2010. Mr. Basinger was baptized at the age of 84.
Survivors include his wife; three children and a daughter-in-law (sic), Anna and John Lowe, William "Billy" Basinger, and Colleen Basinger; three siblings, Joyce Levoria Basinger Boyett, George Eugene "Gene" Basinger Sr., and Carrie Ole "Carolyn" Basinger Palmer; grandchildren, Kathy and Conan Massey, Charles and Gena Myers, Michael "Mike" and Michele Myers, Hesper "Jo" and Jared Storms, Summer Basinger, and Samuel "Sam" Basinger; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leola Staggs, James Thomas Basinger, Florence Flora Morgan, Murphie Howell Basinger, Nolan Willis Basinger, Marjorie Lucille Burks, John D. Basinger Sr., James "Jimmy" Frank Basinger Jr., Carl Rudolph Bassinger, Sr., O.C. Basinger, and Norville Cassell Basinger; and a nephew, Leo Riley "Sonny" Staggs.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.
