On the 28th of May 1882 he was ordained to the priesthood. Two months later he was assigned to the mission of Fonda where he erected St. Mary's and St.Patrick's chuches leaving no indebtedness.He was devoted to both the spiritual and material welfare of his parishioners and through untiring efforts has done much for his community.Rev.Carroll is the brother to James Andrew Carroll who also distinguished himself by holding the office of Mayor in Rolfe, Iowa.
