Elizabeth Fitzgerald and Thomas Hayden are on the same stone as James E. and Julia Fitzgerald.

Elizabeth Fitzgerald was the only child of James and Julia Cullenane Fitzgerald that lived to become an adult. She married Thomas F. Hayden 4 November 1895 in Amesbury.

In 1900 Thomas and Elizabeth were living in Newburyport, 4th ward on 40 Market St. Thomas was listed as "stage manager" in the census. They had 2 children, William R. born Aug. 1896 and Matilda born Dec. 1898.

By 1910 Thomas was lodging with Mary E. Halstead at 16 Merrimack St. in Hamden and was working as a trimmer in an automobile factory. Elizabeth was living at 36 Orchard St. in Amesbury with the children and Thomas' father and mother (Thomas and Katherine) were living next door.

In 1920 Thomas and Elizabeth were both back in Amesbury and living at 40 High St. Thomas was still working at an automobile factory. Their children were still living with them and William was also working at the automobile factory and Matilda (she was listed as Maria C. in this census) was teaching at public school. Thomas father age 79 was also living with them.

Thomas immigrated in 1871 probably from England where he was born and was naturalized in 1885. His father and mother were born in Ireland.
