James was naturalized at the Superior court held at Newburyport "the second day of May 1874. He died at Salisbury Mills MA on 19 September 1879 and his death certificate lists his parents as John Fitzgerald and Maria Timothy. Side one of his tombstone reads "James E. Fitzgerald, died Sept. 19, 1879 at 32 yrs; Julie his wife died Aug. 1893 at 39 yr 10 mo."
