Funeral services for Mrs Martha L Wade will be held from the home of her daughter, Mrs Perry Olson at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon October 5. Mrs Wade died at 6 o'clock Thursday morning at the ripe age of 86 years 7 months and 27 days. She had lived in Montesano and vicinity since 1878
Martha L Thomas was born in Morgantown West Virginia Feb 8, 1837 and married in the same town to E L Wade on October 8, 1857. The family continued to live in Morgantown until 1878 when it moved west coming by rail to San Francisco and thence by water to South Montesano, where they settled on what is now the CRD Hall place. In 1900 they removed to their home west of Montesano proper and since the death of her husband 12 years ago Mrs Wade has made her home with her daughter, Mrs Olson.
The husband served through the Civil War in the federal army and during all this period Mrs Wade had to remain at home and look after the affairs of the family and care for her children. Both she and Mr Wade were always very active in GAR work and were ardent patriots.
She recently took sick being apparently worn out and went to sleep quietly Thursday morning.
Mrs Wade was the mother of seven children and step-mother of two others who were so young when they came to her that she was the only mother that they ever knew. Of these the following survive: AK Wade, AM Wade, TR Wade, WF Wade, Charles C Wade, and Mrs Perry Olson.
Burial will be in Wynooche cemetery.
