George Earl Heaton was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to John and Madeline Heaton on August 8, 1930, and passed away on December 17, 2011.

George was a teacher for over thirty years, where he taught at Wayside Elementary, Room #8. He was awarded the Hall of Fame for outstanding teacher by Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce in 1990. He was very devoted to his family and students. George also loved farming and his animals. He was loved by all who knew him.

He was an honor student at Modesto Junior College and was graduated with honors from Sacramento State College.

He was a veteren of three years service with the U.S. Army.

George is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Barbara Kavern Heaton; three sons, Timothy, Stephen, and Matthew and their spouses; one daughter, Louise Denning and spouse; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Madeline; son, George Earl Heaton, Jr.; and two brothers, Jack and Gene Heaton.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011, 1:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Boulevard.
