Mrs. Joanna (Hallahan) O'Keefe wife of Simon F. O'Keefe passed away rather suddenly at her home last evening. During the afternoon she had been enjoying and automobile ride and on the return to her house suddenly became sick and died within a short time.
She was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Timothy and Ann Hallahan, and had always made her home in Taunton, for many years at her late residence 258 Somerset Avenue. She was in her 78th year.
Mrs. O'Keefe was a woman who enjoyed a wide acquaintance due in a great measure to her friendly manner and kind disposition. She had been a member of the Sacred Heart parish for many years and was a faithful communicant of that church. She had many attributes which endeared her to those who knew her well and her sudden death came as a decided shock to her many relatives and friends. Last year she and Mr. O'Keefe quietly celebrated the 55th anniversary of their wedding.
Besides her husband she leaves three sons, William F. of Boston, Dr. Clarence C. of Taunton, and Lester H. of New York; three daughters Mrs. Louise Mullins, Miss Ella V. O'Keefe and Mrs. Lena M. McGuire all of Taunton; three brothers, John, Jeremiah and Thomas J. Hallahan, all of this city; and two sisters, the Misses Catherine and Sadie Hallahan also of Taunton.
Services will be held at the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday morning, but due to Holy Week, mass will not be sung until Monday April 16.
