Lewis Ford Abbott, the youngest son of Lewis Ford and Zelinda Margaret Abbott was born in Clarinda on April 25, 1881. He had spent his entire lifetime in the Clarinda area and was a graduate of the Clarinda schools.
On January 1, 1907, he was married to Eva Maud Dougherty. Their son, Robert Lewis Abbott, a commander in the U.S. Navy, was able to be here in Mr Abbott's last hours.
Before his retirement Mr Abbott was a carpenter by trade and had served the community for many years as a member and chief of the Clarinda Volunteer Fire Department. He was regular in attendance at the Christian Church, was a 50-year member of the Nodaway Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife, here, the son and wife, Jean, three grandchildren, Judith, James and Thomas, all of Quatanomo Bay Cuba.
The Rev Ralph G. Allen, pastor of the Christian Church, will officiate at the funeral services. Masonic Rites will be given by Nodaway Lodge No 140 AF&AM. Members of the Clarinda Eastern Star will be in charge of the flowers. Mrs Doris Forbes will be the soloist, accompanied byMrs Helen Hall Hoskinson as organist.
