Darby served 27 years in U.S. Army - retired as a Captain. Veteran of World War II. He primarily supervised German and Italian Prisoner of War compounds in Missouri and Nebraska during WWII.
Darby's military plaque grave marker is incorrect. He did not serve in the military during World War I - only World War II.
