She was born Sept. 4, 1922 in Crystal Falls, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Brozak) Mlinarcik. In 1946 she married Walter Kempa in Crystal Falls; he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1995. She was a homemaker most of her life. She and her husband lived in Chicago Heights, Ill. for several years where he was a U.S. Army Recruiter. They moved back to Crystal Falls in 1978. She was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Parish of Crystal Falls. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Celia Watson, Marge Dolan and Mary Voden; and two brothers, Joseph Janov and John Mlinarcik.
She is survived by two sons, Gerard of Crystal Falls and James of Griffith, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Crystal and Nicole Kempa.
