MONTPELIER - Harry Tressler, 85, of Montpelier, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at Anna's House at Hillside Country Living.
Born July 23, 1920, in Jefferson Twp., to Vera B. (Manley) and Harry Cleveland Tressler, he married Alice M. Traxler on Dec. 30, 1942, at New York, N.Y., and she survives.
A graduate of Montpelier High School in 1938, he also graduated from Casey Jones School of Aeronautics in Mineola, Long Island, New York, in 1943. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Corps.
A retired truck driver for Refiners Transport, Inc., he retired in December of 1981 after 32 years of service. He was a member of West Unity United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Montpelier Loyal Order of Moose No. 312 and a life member of VFW Post 944.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Judy) Nixon of Pioneer and Mrs. Burton (Jan) Fiser of New Bremen; a son, Robert (and wife, Candice) Tressler of West Unity; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earnest Tressler of Lake Placid, Fla. and Ralph (Jean) Tressler of Canton, Mich.; and a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Kathryn) Frazier of Troy, Mo.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Verna Price and Faye Loftis; and two brothers, Richard Tressler and Elmer Tressler.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-9 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery with military graveside rites by Montpelier Veterans.
Memorials may be made to Anna's House at Hillside Country Living.
