Alice Marie Tressler, 87, of Montpelier and formerly of West Unity, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at her residence.
Born Jan. 2, 1923, in Jefferson Twp., Williams County, to Carrie P. (Wirick) and Charley D. Traxler, she married Harry Tressler Jr. on Dec. 30, 1942, at New York, N. Y., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 2005.
Alice Marie graduated from Millcreek-West Unity High School in 1940. She was the administrative assistant at Hilltop High School for 25 years.
A member of the original board of the Williams County Hospice (Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties), she was also the volunteer office manager for a number of years. Also, she was a charter member of the C.B.S. Study Club, the Williams County Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 0669 of West Unity and a former member of the D.A.R. and West Unity United Methodist Women. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montpelier and also a member of the Presbyterian Church Women.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy (Paul) Nixon of Pioneer and Jan (Burton) Fiser of New Bremen; a son Robert (Candice) Tressler of West Unity; two brothers, Charles R. Traxler of Maumee and Peter Traxler of Bryan; two sister, Donna King and Janet Lee, both of Montpelier; and brother-in-law, Ralph (Jean) Tressler of Canton, Michigan.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Pam Motter and Laurie (Scott) Gentit, both of Pioneer, Rusty (Tonna) Lonabarger of Berlin Heights, Wendy Crosby of Columbus, Cory (Amy) Tressler of Hilton Head Island, S.C. and Jeremy Fiser of Chicago, Illinois; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchlldren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sister, Florence Keiser and Irene Fauver.
Visitation will be Friday, 3-8 p.m., in the Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Montpelier, with the Rev. David Tilly to officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Memorials may be made to the Cherry Street Mission.
