Vern L. Rose, age 90 of Elwood, died Sunday, December 18, 2011, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born January 28, 1921 in Elwood the son of Myrel and Sarah (Miller) Rose. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Vivian Dick on April 12, 1941. He was a truck driver for McClain Trucking for 14 years before retiring in 1986. He also formerly worked at McKnight's Farm Implement Store in Elwood. Vern was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church, the Elwood Elks Lodge #368, and the Elwood Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida and driving around in his 1925 Model T. He also enjoyed his time at Lake Wawasee with his boats and snowmobiles.

Survivors include: Daughter – Sandra (husband Greg) Ball of Elwood; 2 Grandchildren – Justal (wife Terina) Ball of Elwood; and Dawn (husband Michael) Buck of New Albany, OH; 5 Great-Grandchildren – Josh Ball of Elwood; Sarah (husband Bryan) Jarvis of Fishers; Jake Ball of Elwood; Logan Arehart of NewAlbany, OH; Zoie Buck of New Albany,OH; Cousin – Ted (wife Jan) Rose of California. Vern was preceded in death by: Parents; and Wife who died January 14, 2010 – Vivian (Dick) Rose.
