The funeral of Mrs Mary Channel which occured on last Tuesday was one of the largest in attendance ever held in the Union church. Many from Soldier, Havensville and Corning were present to pay a loving tribute of respect to the memory of the departed one. The sermon wa preached by Rev. Elliott of Corning. The deceased was a noble type of womanhood. Loved and respected by all. Her life was in harmongy with the good. Her devotion to the M. E. church of which she was a member was indeed strong., and her last active work of which we remember was for the church, in her buggy going from house to house among the members getting things pertaining to the quarterly conference in the way of finance ready and the success that attended her efforts can be vouched for by Rev. Elliott the pastor of the church.
