-When the Hindenburg exploded on May 6th, 1937, "Peter" was in the Dinning Room watching the landing proceedings. He survived the Hindenburg disaster by jumping out the window of the Dinning Room without getting burned.
-His parents thought he hadn't survived the disaster, but he was able to reunite with them in the parking lot as they were about to leave.
-In 1939, Belin married Mary Elizabeth Dickson Cootes.
-Fought in World War Two.
-Retired as a Captain from the U.S.Navy.
-Ferdinand Lammot "Peter" Belin Jr. passed away in 1982, he rarely spoke about his escape from the Hindenburg.
