AMOS, Herbert L. "Dutch" Age 91, of Trotwood, passed away Dec. 21, 2011. The eighth child of Robert Lewis and Rachel Belle Amos, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Rife; 7 brothers; and 1 sister. Dutch is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn (Forth) Amos, to whom he was faithfully devoted for 70 years; 6 children, Richard (Norann) Amos, Jack Amos, Carol Gilvin, Ron (Joan) Amos, Don Amos, and Julie (Janet Stasio) Amos; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his large, extended family, friends, and co-workers. Dutch was a lifelong member of the Trotwood Church of the Brethren. He served in many leadership capacities in all functions of the church in addition to being a Sunday school teacher for 38 years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Signal Corp in France during WWII. He was a well respected and admired employee at DP&L for 42 years, holding several management positions during his career. He was an active citizen of Trotwood, serving on and chairing the Board of Public Affairs and was an interim Mayor at one time. He was an avid gardener with a prolific green thumb and was a top-rate electrician. During his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, automobile racing and spending time with his wife, family and friends. Dutch was an unbiased friend, a hard-worker, was generous with his resources, and was loved and respected by all. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at Trotwood Church of the Brethren, 208 E. Main St., with Pastor Paula Bowser officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening from 4-8 PM and also Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
