Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetary, Rock Island. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a 5 p.m. Masonic service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice or the American Heart Association.
Louis was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Rock Island, the son of Louis A. and Dora Rumler Gernant. He married Margaret "Peggy" DuMars Oct 22, 1938, in Davenport. She preceded him in death April 19, 1977. He married Patricia Pruessing April 24, 1980 in Rock Island.
He graduated from Rock Isladn High School and Augustana College. He was a general foreman at International Harvester, East Moline after 32 years in 1975.
He was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church. The many Masonic organizations he belonged to included, Trio Lodge 57, Zal Grotto,Rock Island York-Rite, York- Rite College,Moline Eastern Star and Vashti Schrine 23.His special awards included KYCH, Purple Cross and MEG Sterart of York Rite Chapter.
Louis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. His most enjoymeent came from his two grand children and his great grandchild.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Patricia, daughter ,Sandy ( Richard) Mason, Moline, grandchildren,Beth ( Mike) Jacobs, East Moline, and Earl "Boo" Wendt, Moline, a great grandchild, Elliott Jacobs, and mother in law, Carol Pruessiing,Rock Island.
