Dennis D. Considine, prominent Harmon resident and well known throughout Lee County, who died at KSB Hospital Dec. 23 following a series of three strokes, was born in Harmon Township May 27, 1875, and with the exception of three years residence in Dixon had made Harmon his home all his life. He had been very active in the community having been in business for many years, and owned and operated several farms, as well as serving as a director for many years in the Farmer's elevator in Harmon. He married Martha Long Jan. 1, 1896, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 1, 1946. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at home and St. Flannen's Catholic church at 9:30 a.m. Rev. David Murphy, pastor, sang solemn Requiem High Mass with Rev. Father Walsh and Rev. Father McGrath as deacon and subdeacon. Rev. Father Robert Palen was on the alter. Lloydie Considine, a grandson and Mickey McCormick served as acolytes. Mrs. Edward J. McCormick presided at the organ and Miss Theresa Miller sang the "Ava Maria" at the offertory and "Softly and Tenderly" at the conclusion. Pallbearers were Attorney Sim Mee Sterling, Attorney Sherwood Dixon, of Dixon, John Ryan, John Drew, Francis Clinton and Hugh Hermes. Committal was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends and relatives from this area attended the rites and a number from a greater distance. Surviving are his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude McInerney, and two sons, Douglas of Hollywood, Calif,; and Lloyd of Harmon, one sister, Mrs. Harry Ostrander, and two brothers, Joseph of Harmon and John of South Dixon, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
