ADRIAN – Ellen M. Brockway, 90, of Adrian, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011, at Lynwood Manor. She was born July 11, 1921, in Adrian, the daughter of Galen and Bessie (Delano) Atkin. On April 22, 1944, she married Harley Brockway in Adrian, and he preceded her in death. Ellen loved her family dearly. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens, her love of people and animals. Ellen is survived by her son, Galen Brockway of Adrian; two granddaughters, Airetta (Craig) Hunt of Homer and Dottie (Wayne) Gedion of Onsted; three great grandchildren, Christine Double, and Cassie and Kile Hunt; two sisters, Alice King of Florida and Arlene Atkin of Adrian; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Brockway; daughter-in-law, Nancy Brockway; two brothers, Donald and Howard Atkin; and a sister, Jean Beal. The funeral service for Ellen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Wagley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. Contributions in memory of Ellen may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
