ROBERT H. MELVIN, 79, of Memphis, retired foreman for Memphis Lamp Plant, died Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Memorial Park. He was a World War II Army veteran, member of Charjean Baptist Church and a Mason. Mr. Melvin, the husband of Elise Melvin for 53 years, also leaves five daughters, Alice Faye Newcomb of Corinth, Miss., Sandra Lynn Hooks of Grenada, Miss., and Sherry Diane Melvin, Pamela J. Jones and J. Renee Ivy, all of Memphis; a son, Robert H. Melvin Jr. of Collierville; a sister, Lillie Mae McCarter of Birmingham; a brother, Ray Melvin of Kossuth, Miss., 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
