Margaret Jane Flinn was the eldest of six known children of William Eugenio Flinn (1817-1896) and Sarah Emily Stevenson Flinn (1814-1897), who married 09 Aug 1838 at (presumably Wayne County) Missouri. In Mar 1860 the family left Missouri by wagon train, heading for El Monte, California where they stayed for a period before moving on to San Diego County, California.

While her parents were staying at El Monte, Margaret married first to Andrew Jackson Horn (c1830-p1881) on 18 Dec 1861 at El Monte, Los Angeles County, California. A.J. was relatively wealthy, and had come to El Monte in 1854. He raised horses and was postmaster for a period. Margaret and A.J. divorced before 1880 and A.J. remarried to Mary V. McCarthy on 09 Aug 1881 at El Monte. Margaret and A.J. had no children. In 1880 the divorced Margaret was living with a Stevenson cousin in Los Angeles County.

Margaret remarried to the widower Dr. William Geller (1818-1887) sometime between 1880 and 1887, when William died. William had first been married to Mararet Caroline Thompson (1821-1876) in Oct 1843 at Marion, Knox County, Ohio and they had seven children. They came to California between 1850 and 1855.
