Raymond E. Deslauriers, 80, a longtime Dracut resident, died Thursday December 1, 2011 in Sarasota, FL, following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Rita A. (Pelletier) Deslauriers with whom he would have celebrated 28 years of marriage on December 10, 2011.

Born in Lowell on June 18, 1931, he was a son of the late Ellsworth and Grace (Berard) Deslauriers.

Ray, also known to his friends and family as "Bummy", had enlisted in the United States Air Force as a young man and served during the Korean War.

For twenty-seven years, Ray was a fire fighter on the Lowell Fire Department. He was stationed at several fire houses throughout the city and retired as a lieutenant in 1989 from the Branch Street station.

Ray was an avid Red Sox fan and a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed golfing, especially while spending his winters in Arcadia, Florida with his wife. Above all things, he loved spending time with his loving family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Raymond Deslauriers and his wife, Kathy of Tyngsboro; two daughters, Johnna Bahou and her husband, William of Lowell, Leslie McMahon and her husband, Michael of Alton Bay, NH; a step-son, George E. Bisson and his wife, Traci of Peabody; ten grandchildren, Meghan, Matthew and Jonathan Bahou, Morgan Deslauriers, Abagayle, Shannon and Michael John McMahon, Michael, Joseph and Brendan Bisson.

He was the brother of the late Richard Deslauriers.
