The Rina B. Moog Scholarship

The Rina B. Moog Scholarship Award was established by Rina's family to recognize her talent and passion as a teacher at Billings Senior High School. The award reflects Rina's belief in the potential of each student. The Scholarship Fund is held by the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools.

The purpose of the Scholarship Award is to give students, who otherwise might not have the opportunity, the chance to receive a post-secondary education. Rina fiercely believed in meeting students where they were, and she delighted in motivating them to rise above their own expectations.
The scholarship is directed at a graduating senior from Senior High School for use in post-secondary education, whether a one, two, or four year program. The Scholarship Award is $1,000. Funds are disbursed directly to the institution of higher learning after the Scholarship
recipient has matriculated.

The Scholarship Selection Committee will use the following criteria to determine the scholarship winner:
• Demonstrated interest and commitment to an area of future study.
• Student must show that he/she has overcome a challenge to succeed.
• Individual initiative or involvement in extracurricular activities which demonstrate commitment, responsibility, good work ethic, consideration for others, or respect for the beliefs and needs of others.
• Academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in high school.
• The award is for post secondary education.

Applicant Requirements:
• Be a graduating senior from Senior High School.
• The student will be nominated by one's teacher or guidance counselor.
• Household income meeting the Federal guidelines for moderate to low income.
• Submit with the application a copy of your most recent high school transcript.
• Submit one letter of recommendation from a school official, teacher, counselor, employer, and/or activity sponsor.

The Scholarship recipient will be presented at the annual awards assembly held in the spring. For further information, please contact Krista Hertz, Education Foundation, at 406-245-4133.
